Money matters
So far, I’ve had so many lovely messages of support on my journey to travel solo (thank you so much!). As I get my ducks in a row, one of the questions I expected to receive is:
How are you affording all of this?
Honestly, if any of you told me you were going travelling for 2 months (or more), I would ask you that question FIRST.
Where are you finding the money and how can I make some too?
The truth is… I probably can’t afford it…
At least not in the traditional sense.
I didn’t toil at day and night jobs to squirrel the extra cash and build a healthy travelling pot. That’s far too sensible for me.
Call it digital nomading or a working excursion, but I fully intend to keep working as I drive my way through this lovely continent. My goal is to meet deadlines and book new clients in my mornings and leave my afternoons to explore.
Lucky for me, I quite like early mornings. I question my life choices in those precious early seconds of 5am. But when I’m up, I'm up and fighting. My brain is wired for words. I’m effortlessly lyrical in all the right ways.
So it could be foolish to not have saved up more… but at least this is more fun than saving for a rental deposit.
I know I have a guaranteed amount flowing in for February, and I am currently scheduling 100 pitches to potential copywriting clients to hopefully get some more work going. This is the freelancer’s curse.
But perhaps the reason none of you asked me how I’m finding or making the money is that you’ve all figured out one salient truth that is only clear to me now: where there’s a will, there’s a way.
And if you know me, you know I’ll find a way!
Ta ta for now,
